At The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering on August 15, Chevrolet revealed the Corvette CX.R Vision Gran Turismo Concept, a striking racecar that celebrates nearly 75 years of Corvette's motorsports legacy while offering a bold glimpse into the future of track-focused Corvette vehicles. Unveiled alongside the Corvette CX Concept, both models are set to influence the direction of Corvette’s design language for years to come.
Corvette CX.R Vision Gran Turismo Concept
Built exclusively for the track, the Corvette CX.R Vision Gran Turismo Concept embodies pure performance. Every detail reflects a deep connection to Corvette’s racing heritage, reimagined through futuristic engineering and design.
The Corvette CX.R Vision Gran Turismo Concept takes the foundational CX design and elevates it with sharper aerodynamic features, a more aggressive stance, and enhanced downforce. Active aero elements are more pronounced, and a lowered ride height improves grip and high-speed stability.
Lightweight construction is central to the CX.R’s performance. With extensive use of carbon fiber and other weight-saving materials, every component is engineered to minimize mass without compromising strength or agility.
Under the skin, the CX.R is powered by a hybrid system that pairs two electric motors at the front with a third motor at the rear. At the heart of it all is a compact and high-revving twin-turbocharged V8 running on E-Fuel. This setup delivers the power, endurance, and visceral sound required in top-tier racing.
Inside, the cockpit is built for serious circuit performance. The driver’s seat is contoured to cradle the head and neck under heavy lateral G-forces. The steering wheel features tactile buttons and knobs placed for quick, intuitive use, even with racing gloves on.
Finished in the signature yellow and black livery, the CX.R proudly continues Corvette’s 25-year legacy in GT racing. It pays tribute to the past while charging full speed into the future.
Corvette CX Concept
Created for both street and track use, it blends advanced styling with unmistakable Corvette DNA. The design is futuristic, yet instantly recognizable as part of the Corvette legacy.
Signature elements include a forward-lunging nose, a bold horizontal chine line that defines the upper and lower body sections, and the iconic dual-element tail lights. Its proportions are long, low, and aerodynamic, with a roofline that sits under 41 inches, emphasizing speed and presence. From an engineering standpoint, the Corvette CX Concept stands out for its advanced aerodynamics and powerhouse drivetrain.
It features an active aerodynamic system designed to optimize both street efficiency and track performance. The centerpiece, however, is its fan-based downforce system. Using near-future technology, jet-inspired thrust vectoring control ensures aerodynamic balance between the front and rear, enhancing stability at all speeds.
Power is delivered through a four-wheel-drive system powered by the RESS platform, which seamlessly integrates the power unit into the drivetrain. With four electric motors, the CX Concept produces over 2000 horsepower, offering explosive acceleration and precise control.
Both the Corvette CX.R Vision Gran Turismo Concept and the Corvette CX Concept are set to be featured in Gran Turismo 7, giving players a chance to experience their cutting-edge performance virtually.
