Fresh off the stage at the Gran Turismo World Finals in Fukuoka, more exciting news has emerged for fans of the franchise. Among the announcements celebrating major milestones and future venues, Polyphony Digital and Hyundai officially unveiled the next confirmed addition to the Gran Turismo 7 lineup: the Hyundai Elantra N TCR.

TCR cars are raced globally in various series, mostly by customer teams, similar to GT3. Hyundai also competes in the FIA TCR World Tour with this exact model. Every car in the category is front-wheel drive, turbocharged, and significantly reworked from its road-going counterpart, making the Elantra a standout addition to GT7’s growing lineup.

The Elantra N TCR is Hyundai’s third TCR car, following the i30 N and Veloster N. Developed by Hyundai Motorsport in Alzenau, Germany, the Elantra was built from the ground up as a dedicated touring car. With its stable, high-performance chassis and optimized aerodynamics, it’s designed to deliver consistent performance across a variety of racing conditions.

Power comes from a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine, paired with a six-speed sequential gearbox and paddle shifters. It sends all power to the front wheels, staying true to its TCR lineage. Legendary touring car driver Gabriele Tarquini played a key role in development, putting the car through more than 5,000 kilometers of intense testing to ensure it was competitive from day one.

Since making its debut at the 2021 Daytona 24 Hours, the Elantra N TCR has claimed victories in TCR championships across Europe, South America, and the now-retired WTCR, solidifying its reputation as one of the most dominant entries in the category.

While the Elantra N TCR is the headline for now, it’s not the end of Hyundai’s plans for Gran Turismo. During the event, Joon Park hinted at an expanding collaboration with Polyphony Digital, revealing that more announcements are expected in 2026. As Hyundai’s N performance division celebrates its 10th anniversary, it’s clear that the brand is looking to strengthen its presence in the world of virtual motorsports.

This partnership could bring even more N-branded performance models to the Gran Turismo series, possibly including future concept cars or electric entries as Hyundai pushes deeper into the performance EV space.

With the Elantra N TCR arriving in the next update, Gran Turismo 7 fans can look forward to testing a true touring car legend in their virtual garage very soon.
