Good news if you missed the first run of Fanatec's Podium Pedals: they're coming back in stock on Wednesday 19 August at 14:00 UTC, which is 4:00 PM CEST, 10:00 AM Eastern, or 7:00 AM Pacific. If the first batch is anything to go by, you'll want to be quick, since the initial production run reportedly sold out in around seven minutes.
The Restock and the Discount
The Podium Pedals Formula, the two-pedal configuration with carbon fibre pedal plates and heel cups, first went on sale on 25 June and sold out almost immediately. Fanatec says this second batch is larger than the first, but they're once again warning buyers to act fast, with more stock to follow as production ramps up.
Our discount code should help take a little off the top. The EDGE code knocks 5% off at checkout. It won't work on items already marked down, but the Podium Pedals Formula is standard-price stock, so it should be fair game.
One thing worth knowing: the launch bundle's free aluminium GT-style pedal plates are no longer included with this batch. Fanatec explained that preparing the bundle would have added significant warehouse delays, and they decided getting the pedals back on sale sooner was the better call. Fair enough, though it does slightly change the value equation compared to the first run.
If you want the full rundown on what these pedals actually do, we covered them in depth in our hands-on overview, including the clever Elastomer Compression Control brake, which remains the standout feature. They're also fully compatible with Fanatec's PlayStation ecosystem, including the Gran Turismo DD Pro and the Gran Turismo DD Extreme, so they slot straight into a GT7 setup.
The New Podium Pedals Sport
The more interesting bit of news for a lot of people is a third configuration Fanatec has just announced: the Podium Pedals Sport. It's aimed squarely at buyers who wanted Podium Pedals performance without paying for carbon components or a clutch pedal they'd never use.
The Sport is a two-pedal set that swaps the Formula's carbon fibre for the aluminium GT-style pedal plates, which makes it the cheapest way into the Podium Pedals range. It arrives at the end of September, priced at $599.99 USD, €599.95 EUR, $950 AUD, or ¥100,000 JPY. For anyone who read our overview and loved the brake but winced at the Formula's price, this is the version to keep an eye on. You get the same core performance and the brilliant brake, just without the carbon.
The Three-Pedal Set Is Finally Coming in October
Lastly, there's an update on the full three-pedal Podium Pedals set, which still hasn't had its proper retail launch after manufacturing problems with the clutch pedal held things up. Fanatec says those issues are now resolved, but the clutch needs a bit more time to be readied for mass production.
The three-pedal set, along with a separate clutch upgrade for existing owners, is now expected to become available in October. So if you know you want a clutch, it may be worth holding out for that rather than buying the Formula now and upgrading later.
Final Thoughts
This is a solid bit of news across the board. The Formula restock is your chance if you missed out first time, the new Sport version finally gives a more affordable way into the range without losing the brake that makes these pedals special, and the three-pedal set landing in October means the full lineup is nearly complete. Just be quick on the 19th if the Formula is what you're after, because these things don't hang around.
Let us know if you manage to grab a set, and which configuration you're going for.
