A surprise content update is heading to Gran Turismo 7 next week, with series creator Kazunori Yamauchi confirming the news just after the conclusion of the Gran Turismo World Series event in Berlin. Alongside the announcement, Yamauchi shared a teaser image that hints at the addition of five new cars, one of the largest car drops in a single update this year.

While September wasn’t initially expected to bring an update, especially given the World Series schedule and the recent lack of teasers, Polyphony Digital has defied expectations with a lineup that looks to mix performance, concept, and utility. Here’s a look at what’s potentially coming.

Opel Corsa GSe Vision Gran Turismo

Taking center stage is the futuristic Opel Corsa GSe VGT. Developed as part of the Vision Gran Turismo initiative, this electric concept previews the next-gen Corsa with Opel’s new “compass” design language. It features bold, dynamic styling, 800 horsepower from electric motors, and active aerodynamics including an extending diffuser. The car is also making its real-world sim racing debut during the Pro-Am event in Berlin.

Hyundai Elantra N

Also spotted in the teaser is the long-awaited Hyundai Elantra N, a 276hp front-wheel-drive performance sedan. This marks the second vehicle from Hyundai’s N division to join GT7 following a collaboration announcement in 2024. With its sharp styling and track-ready tuning, it promises to be a strong rival to the Honda Civic Type R and others in the segment.

Toyota RAV4 (5th Generation)

In a surprising move, it looks like the popular Toyota RAV4 is joining the roster. Likely based on the fifth-generation model, the RAV4’s inclusion adds a versatile, real-world favorite to the mix. There’s also a chance it could be the Suzuki Across, a nearly identical twin. While not a typical racing machine, the RAV4 reflects GT7’s expanding scope beyond just sports and supercars.

Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40

Representing off-road heritage, the iconic Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser appears to be joining the lineup. With its boxy silhouette and legendary go-anywhere reputation, the FJ40 is a favorite among off-road enthusiasts and will be a great fit for GT7’s dirt tracks.

Mazda Spirit Racing Roadster 12R

Finally, the update seems to include the limited-edition Mazda Spirit Racing Roadster 12R. Based on the current-generation MX-5, this track-ready version features a naturally aspirated 2.0L engine producing 184hp, refined through lightweight pistons, improved intake and exhaust systems, and exclusive tuning. Only 200 of these exist in the real world, making it a rare and exciting addition to the game.

What Else to Expect

As with previous updates, additional content will likely be revealed closer to launch. Typically, this includes new events in World Circuits tailored to the newly added cars, Bonus and Extra Menu Books in Café mode, new engine swaps, and possibly fresh Scapes photo locations. While there’s no word yet on new circuits, players are still hopeful, especially since it’s been a while since the last track addition.

More information is expected around Wednesday, September 24, with the update expected to roll out on Thursday, September 25. Stay tuned for full patch notes and additional features as they’re officially revealed.
