The new Gran Turismo 7 Online Time Trial goes live on 8 October 2026 and runs for the usual two weeks, ending on 22 October 2026. This round is a one-make, the GReddy Fugu Z on Sports Hard tyres around Dragon Trail Gardens.
Dragon Trail Gardens in Croatia is 4.35 km long with 17 corners and 27 m of elevation, and the longest straight is 781 m. It's the shorter of the two Dragon Trail layouts, but 17 corners in 4.35 km leaves little room to relax. The Time Trial was last at Dragon Trail on the Seaside Reverse layout in the Lexus RC F '14, which ended on 1 October, so the scenery will look familiar even though the lap won't. Gardens also hosted Gr.4 Daily Race B in Week 8, if you want a reference for the lines.
GReddy Fugu Z at Dragon Trail Gardens: What to Expect
Gold is set at 1:49.5. The event has only just gone live, so there's no leaderboard to read yet.
It's a one-make, so there's no car choice to chase. Everyone's in the GReddy Fugu Z, which makes the whole Time Trial about driving rather than meta-hunting. The Fugu Z is a 1973 Datsun 240Z that actor Sung Kang built with GReddy and other partners, according to the PlayStation Blog, and it won a Gran Turismo Award in 2015. In GT7 it has a naturally aspirated 2.6-litre RB26 engine from the Skyline GT-R making 294 HP, rear-wheel drive and a weight of 1,100 kg. It started life in Gran Turismo Sport.
Sports Hard is the firmest of the three Sports compounds and gives up the most peak grip for it. In a light, old, rear-wheel-drive car, we'd expect the rear to step out if you rush the throttle on exit, and that's where the time will leak away over a lap with this many corners. Brake in a straight line, let the car settle, and add the throttle gradually once it's pointing where you want to go. With a 781 m straight on the lap, a clean exit onto it carries speed all the way down it, so spend your early laps on the corner that feeds it.
It's also worth remembering that update 1.71 brought significant changes to tyre behaviour, steering geometry and throttle response. If your last proper run in a road car on Sports tyres was before the update, give yourself a session to recalibrate before you start chasing tenths in earnest.
Final Thoughts
The GReddy Fugu Z at Dragon Trail Gardens looks like a proper test of throttle control. It's a short lap with 17 corners in a rear-wheel-drive car on the firmest road tyre in the Sports range. Gold at 1:49.5 will reward a smooth lap built corner by corner.
Let us know what you think about this combination. It looks like it could be a very interesting one.
