The first Spec IV Time Trial puts the new Xiaomi Vision Gran Turismo on the new Sportsland SUGO, on Sports Soft tyres, from 15 to 29 October 2026. It's a brand new car on a brand new track, so nobody has a head start.
Xiaomi Vision Gran Turismo at Sportsland SUGO
Polyphony didn't waste any time. Spec IV Part 1 went live this morning, and the first Time Trial uses both of its headline additions: the Xiaomi Vision Gran Turismo and Sportsland SUGO. It's a one-make event with the car settings fixed and tuning off, so the whole leaderboard is in the same car with the same setup. Every tenth comes from the driving.
That also makes this the rarest kind of Time Trial: one where nobody has history. There's no meta to copy, no old replay from a previous running and no muscle memory from Daily Races. Everyone, from the top 100 to someone on their first lap, starts learning the circuit on the same day. If you've ever wanted to see how close you can get to the fast drivers before they've had months of practice, this is the fortnight to try.
And the fast drivers didn't wait. Within hours of the event opening, less than 1.8 seconds already separated first place from 100th in the world, with the top time at 1:17.989 at the time of writing. That gap will shrink as the replays spread and people learn the lap, so a time that looks competitive on Thursday won't be on Sunday.
Two rules shape how you should approach your laps. Track limits are set to Normal, and a shortcut invalidates the lap rather than giving you a penalty. So you won't lose seconds for a mistake, but you'll lose the lap. On a track nobody knows yet, finding where the edges really are is part of the challenge, and the best time of the first few days will probably be set by someone who found out the hard way where the limits are.
With the Xiaomi being an electric hypercar on Sports Softs rather than a race car on slicks, expect it to move around a lot more than a Gr.3 or Gr.1 car through SUGO's elevation changes. Our advice for the first evening is the same process we use on every new track: run ten minutes on your own, then load the replay of a top-ten lap and study where they brake, turn in and get back on the power before you push. Share your time and your lines in the forum.
Final Thoughts
It isn't often that a Time Trial levels the field like this. A new car, a new track and a fixed setup mean the leaderboard over the next two weeks will show who learns fastest, not who has driven SUGO the most. The event closes on 29 October at 07:59, so there's plenty of time to put in a proper effort rather than a rushed one.
Let us know what you think about this combination. It looks like it could be a very interesting one.
