Penalties aren't great... also no strategy. I love CGV but this race become quite annoying after a while. I've gotten like 5 penalties in a row on the same corner for being 1 pixel outside the limits. It's frustrating because it isn't clear where track limits actually are, so it feels inconsistent.

Yeah exactly
I've watched like three people absolutely kill themselves tonight while trying a grass dip here. Very funny ha ha ha!
I love this combo but wish it were at least 12 laps, if not 15, and have medium tires with a pit.
Not great. I don't mind nonstop races but this combo is booty. Feels slow and all you ever feel is understeer. Gr.4 needs overhaul.
if this was the same thing but Gr.2 and Mediums, and maybe 15 laps, that would be something.
Wake up PD!
I love this race, this track is really fun in gr4. Just wish it were longer or tire-wear was much more significant so there'd be a bit of an added challenge.

GarageWorks GTThis is a fun one for us Canadians, nothing like racing at home. The event length could be doubled, force a pit stop, and add some dynamic weather to really take this to the top.... Or a little smokey haze for added realism ...
As a Chicago resident, we're good on the smoke. No more needed, thanks.
All jokes aside, hope these fires subside soon, know its been devastating for the residents of Canada in the area. 💔

I hear ya, Draw a line across Michigan/Huron and you get to me on the shores of Huron.
We don't like it either, but we would rather put our efforts into fighting the fire, then eachother. It is devastating for those displaced
The Adminstrations posture, and that of those in Michigan, is ridiculous. They seem to forget all the Super Scoopers in California, or the loss of a Canadian Life in Colorodo this week, and rather focus on their BBQ plans this weekend. We are stronger together
Cheers!
Could this be the worst daily race ever?
How GT7 feels after giving us 3 dailies in 1 week we've already had in the past: 🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶
Agree with the guys here about talking about track limits
Deberían usar la bandera negra, este juego saca lo peor de muchos pilotos que solo ingresan a molestar y destruyen tu licencia ....
Yamahuchi ponte a trabajar !!!
I love the track car combo, but I have problems with all the drivers around me. I'm always a patient driver, let the others do the mistakes or collect penalties. But esp. in this race there is so much bad coming from behind, so many overtaking attemts at really the most impossoble places, always getting shoved wide in the twisty bits or getting rear-ended at the hairpin or the final chicane.
When do people just LEARN how to drive?

I'm enjoying this race much more than I expected to.
I'm well aware this track produces exciting racing but I can't say I find its layout thrilling to drive. Chicanes and hairpins are fun(in moderation) but aren't as satisfying as medium and high speed corners with elevation changes. At least the ever present barriers accentuate the sens of speed and highten the stakes of pushing hard on corner exit.
Speaking of which, in the lower rank lobbies where I find myself racing I see a lot of drivers colliding with the walls exiting corners all around the track. I know this won't be a popular opinion but I wish Polyphony Digital would turn on penalties for wall collisions on this track. As it stands, the consequence of hitting the wall is negligeable mechanical damage; an utterly ineffective deterent. I get the feeling unscrupulous drivers abuse this and rely on the wall to assist the car's rotation. On any other track careless driving like this would have the car go off and spin on the grass or get bogged down in a gravel trap. Either way the driver loses time and possibly track position. As it should be. If done repeatedly it also relagates this driver to the back of the pack.
Other than that, I don't mind the abscence of pit strategy so much. Though having to manage tire wear could lead to some intersting interactions in the last laps of the race. (Question: anyone know if tire temperatures are still a factor with this week's settings?) But I find the usual everyone-must-perform-one-pit-stop kind of race too limiting. My preference would be to have the possiblility to stop for tires, as long as its not madatory. Let me determine if/when I should pit for fresh rubber.

I know the feeling. I think the limited amount of runoff around this track is partly to blame. Wreckless drivers never really go off track because of the walls. So its not long before they're on their way again. They're not forced to take stock of the situation, realise they've fallen back, gather their thoughts and focus on their driving if they want to catch back up. They never calm down. The slower ones will likely quit out of the lobby soon enough. The fast ones are a real nuisance.
1) They wreck
2) You drive pass them
3) They catch up
4) You let them pass because by now you know they're trouble
5) Go back to step 1
I've gotten stuck towards the back because of this, its frustrating to say the least. And then I got to work on improving my qualifying time. After that, depending on the lobby, I managed to start races anywhere from 8th to 2nd. the closer to the front, the cleaner the opening laps. But even qualifying 8th as been much better than starting from the back. Being prudent and staying out of trouble by not qualifying has its limits. At some point, once your lap times stabalize and you consistently lap faster than your opponents you need to take the start closer to the front and trust things will go in your favor during the opening moments of the race. Analyze your race replays, you'll see the wreckers post one or two blindinly fast laps but tend to be wildly inconsistent. You can take advantge of this.
Don't let it discourage you, you've got this! And don't forget to have fun out there. Nothing is more sad than the grumpy try-hards that forget why they're playing this game...

Tyre temps certainly a thing. Takes about 2-3 laps for them to reach optimal hard braking capacity.
This is the worst if you are trying to level up. It's grand theft auto on a track. No matter what you're getting hit off track, or getting your rear end slid out from somebody you passed. See you next week this efing sucks.

(Edit: so I wrote all this and only realised at the end that I could have just as well shared the replay through GT7's showcase and tell you guys to search the tags: slipltee / cgv / 6th)
Anyway... I think the only sure fire way to not progress is to not give it a go. And sometimes you don't even need to try all that hard. In fact it can help to just go with the flow and see where it takes you.
For instance; last night I hop online for a quick race and I find myself 2nd on the grid. I can tell there weren't many players in the queue because we're only 13 on the grid and ranking spread is all over the place.
Lap 1
I had not warmed up so I chose to park on the red tarmac after the pit wall/before turn one, on the left side of the track, and let the pack pass me. I rejoin in last position. Its not long before the Mazda ahead passes a struggling GT-R coming out of the second chicane. I get a good exit out of the chicane after the bridge and cleanly pass this GT-R on the run to the hairpin where he promptly dive bombs me. I had anticipated this and I delay my turn-in to avoid contact. See, I understand that for some GT-R drivers its vitally important to be in 12th position instead of 13th. Especially on the first lap. I show my support by bump drafting him down the straight. Its the right thing to do. After all I got a much better exit out of the hairpin. I remain last in the running order, 13th.
Lap 2
This time its me who passes the GT-R coming out of the second chicane. The GT-R doesn't attempt to repass me going into the third chicane and the gap between us is so big heading into the hairpin that even the most delusional dive bomber would have second thoughts. He does, and I head onto the straight with a comfortable buffer to the car behind and gaining ground on the Mazda who's playing it safe behind a Porsche and a red GT-R desperately fighting over 9th place. It would appear its not all about 12th position after all. I am now 12th in the running order.
Lap 3
The Porsche and the red GT-R try to go through the first chicane side by side. It doesn't end well for the Porsche driver. The Mazda and myself both pass him. I feel like I might be faster than the Mazda but he's driving calmly and predictably so I back off to let him settle into his own rhythm. Lets see if we can catch up to the cars ahead. On the straight we both drive past the red GT-R that had racked up 1 second worth of penalties. I'm now 10th in the running order.
Lap 4
On the run towards the bridge I pick up on signs that lead me to believe I might really be faster than the Mazda. On the one hand, the dueling Porsche and red GT-R behind are catching up. On the other, it feels like 80% of my TV screen is Mazda bumper. I get a better exit out of the third chicane and attempt a pass on the run to the hairpin. Now, before the start I had noted this Mazda driver had not set a qualifying time. This is usually the sign of a driver that favors avoiding unnecessary chaos and drama over other considerations such as results at all cost. In this case, I might have been wrong. The Mazda had grown attached to his 9th position and blocked my passing attempt. Going through the hairpin I unintentionally tap the rear of the Mazda. I lift as a way to say "I mean you no harm, please carry on". Well, I don't have to tell you the Porsche and the red GT-R jump on the opportunity to pass me going around the outside at the hairpin. I'm in last position as I head onto the straight. Turns out the red GT-R had another penalty to serve so I get a free pass going down the straight. The red GT-R is so fast in the final chicane that he literally drives right through me to reclaim the position. I am once again last in the running order but someone ahead has left the lobby so I'm now in 12th position. Silver linings, I guess.
Lap 5
The red GT-R hits the wall on the outside of turn 2 and I get an opportunity to attempt a pass on the inside going into the first chicane. He choses to hold his ground and we go side be side. I give him all the room I can without earning myself a penalty. We litely bang doors. The red GT-R surges ahead, smacks the wall on the exit of the chicane, bonces off back into the middle of the track where I unintentionally tag his rear bumper. I wonder if he even noticed as I back off to let him compose himself. On the run up to the bridge another driver leaves the lobby: one more position gained. Going down the straight I once more pass the red GT-R who serves yet another penalty. Some people really like to be punished. A licenced therapist would have pertinent insight into this personality quirk but I'm not qualified so I'll leave it at that. As we approach the final chicane, I can tell by his passionate driving, all these penalties have got the red GT-R highly excited. I want nothing to do with it and in an attempt to avoid any more undesired contact I outbrake myself at the end of the straight and completely miss the chicane. So does the red GT-R. I lift and concede the position. The red GT-R keeps the accelerator floored and picks up a one second penalty. I am still last in the running order, in 11th position.
Lap 6
Uneventful lap. Straight / red GT-R / penalty / yada-yada-yada. I am now in 10th position.
Lap 7
The mustang running in 7th position looses control exiting the first chicane, the 4 cars behind him(including me) each gain a position. The mustang leaves the lobby. I find myself quickly catching the Porsche from earlier. I am now in 9th position.
Lap 8
I get a good exit out of the second chicane and easily pass the Porsche on the run up to the bridge. As if giving me a pat on the back to congratulate me, the Porsche bump drafts me in the braking zone to the third chicane then receives a 2 second penalty before leaving the lobby. I am now running in 8th position.
Lap 9
I miss my braking marker for turn 1 and run deep, using the runoff. Lost a little time to the Mazda ahead. Not so much to give a passing opportunity to the red GT-R behind. The rest of the lap is uneventful. I remain in 8th position.
Lap 10
It seems I've gained ground on the Mazda in front who appears to be closing in on an Alfa Romeo in front of whom a Ferrari and a Bugatti are battling going into turn 2. The Mazda, Alfa Romeo and Ferrari are all carrying a 0.5 second penalty. As I exit the third chicane, the Mazda ahead leaves the lobby. Another free position gained. I cross the finish line in 7th position. The 6th place finisher then leaves the lobby and I inherit the position.
My lap times:
1- 2:03.492
2- 1:50.311
3- 1:50.311
4- 1:52.651
5- 1:51.860
6- 1:51.185
7- 1:49.027
8- 1:49.027
9- 1:51.341
10- 1:48.764
Qualifying lap: 1:46.921
So I qualified 2nd for this race but chose to drop to the back because it was my first race of the day and I had not warmed up. Had this been my 3rd, 4th or 5th start in a row I would have gone ahead and raced the other drivers from start to finish. With a little luck I think a podium finish was in the cards. From what I've seen in the replay only the Alfas that qualified 1st and 3rd had more race pace than what I'm comfortable sustaining over 10 laps assuming I'm not stuck in traffic. They finished 1st and 2nd. So yeah, I think 3rd place was mine to lose here. Had I gone for it.
But the point is; when you're stuck at the back and dealing with slower drivers than you; drivers that don't have the best situational awareness; drivers that drive defensively when you're behind them and go for over ambitious passing attempts when they're behind you, remember that race results are determined at the end of the last lap. And Race results are all that matters to gain DR. You'd be surprised what can happen when you just give it a try. Follow coach Luc's 4 rules and see how it goes.
Oh, and remember to have fun out there. Don't take this too seriously, its only a game after all.
