Umm is there a handbrake-on that I'm not aware of? My pace is absolute garbage everywhere. Three seconds slower at Yas and four, yes FOUR SECONDS!! slower at Lago. Same cars as yesterday. This update is atrocious. ...

I was able to improve from 54.1 to 53.5 at Yas in the 296.

I had to drastically change my driving style.

Old physics rewarded pushing the limits.

New physics reward later braking with seemingly more grip but  also reward braking to the point there is very little slip angle on the way out.

Basically controlled smooth grip driving is the way and pushing results in unpredictable and unhelpful traction loss.

Just my initial impression as a B rated casual controller player in one car at one track.

Maybe others can chime in.

Hard to know what physics have what affects as the meta here has switched from an MR car to FR which requires a generally different driving style, but these new physics do seem to reward generally more brute force and less finesse - delicate trail braking that was / is so important in cars like the 992 and the R8 doesn’t matter as much here. Infinite grip means you can brake later and harder, turn it in, and then mash the throttle far earlier. No modulation required in any sense. The Porsche felt like you were almost ‘dancing’ with it - this new style feels like you’re just muscling the Genesis around, kind of like the Mazda Atenza in gr.4. It feels more arcade-like to me. Not as nuanced, requires less thinking. You can bet that PD have made a decision to cater more to entry level drivers with this change. Hopefully they fix the BOP with that Genesis - nothing else touches it now and I can’t see any of the tracks being better suited to a different car. This whole week as been utterly woeful.

I'm not home until next week. But iv seen and read enough to have made the decision to delete this GAME! As from what it sounds like this it what It has become. Continuing to water down cars and change the physics to accommodate the casual controller player masses. RIP GranTurismo. Enjoy all the fake race cars unrealistic driving and performance. I'll take my setup to a platform and game that rewards car knowledge and skill. They should have made this a proper simulator with GTsport and weened all the children out of the competitive side. There lack of real world driving and complaints. Showed love for unrealistic performance from cars on tracks that those cars should be your last pick. We just the most realistic few months of a car that is know around the world as one of the best drivers car ever made with without a doubt one of the best cornering car ever made. But the consistent crying from kids that have no clue how to actually drive has lead PD accommodating to your complete lack of understanding. So this death is not 100% on PD it's just them wanting to sell their game and the masses can't drive and don't understand car physics and performance. Enjoy kids enjoy this Arcade game you have created. I hope they start charging $2 ever time you want to play just to cement the Arcade atmosphere it's become. I'm out.

Intersting... I switched, as everybody, to the Genisis - it feels slower, but after adapting I am nearly a sec. faster than with the porsche.

tbh. physics change is always bad in the beginning, because of the unsuall feeling and the tie it needs to adopt. I had to drastically reduce the ffb. But compared with reality the cars behave more realistic now. The cars were always way to unstable compared with real cars. now it is more predictable.

Maybe it is a little bit easier as well. As someone who likes the challenge, this could be a problem. But it is too early to say so.

You have a good point about the old physics.

I've never driven a gt3 car but I've driven powerful modified cars on a track and the rear simply doesn't act like that it's way more progressive and you don't lose a ton of momentum from every little chirp of the rear.

So regardless of whether the new physics have their own arcade-like aspects it's not like they replaced something pure.

Like I loved the challenge oh the 296 old physics but at the same time nobody would be crazy enough to set up their race car to be that twitchy prone to snap oversteer and low speed understeer. It's kinda nice now to not have to double pump the throttle as soon as the turbo hits and not need to be on the brakes to make it turn.

here is a great explanation of the new physics model from a top split driver

the more time i spent driving last night, the more disappointed i became. the need for soft inputs is no longer. instead of perfecting trail-braking, knowing exactly when to coast, to short-shift, to lift, etc. its all gone. pointless. if you're not full on gas with full steering lock, you're slow. the cars won't over-rotate. the act of driving cautiously because a snap throws you into a wall is unnecessary. this is NOT how real racecars behave. i work at a racetrack. i'm out on track with elite motor vehicles every single week. Paganis. Valkyries. McLarens. Lamborghinis. F2s. 1000s of Porsches. you name it, our members drive it. NONE OF THEM FLOOR IT AND CRANK THE WHEEL TO GO FASTEST.

i am so sad.

Guys, if the Genesis will be the fastest car everywhere I think that cost a lot for Hyundai. I will ignore meta cars from now in every case for sure if it is not a normal world car from real competitions.

I'm not qualified to comment on the realism of a sim's vehicule dynamics so I'll limit myself to sharing my impressions.

My first go around Yas Marina after the update was a 45 minute time trialing session in the car I've used all week, the '17 Porsche 991, where I managed to improve my personal best by nearly 0.6 sec.

The first thing I noticed was an increased responsiveness of the car when throttle input is reduced. The car feels like it slows down a little more and a little faster by simply lifting off the accelerator. Some situations where I would previously have felt the need to slightly apply the brakes I find I can get away with only lifting off the accelerator now. The two off-camber left handers at Yas Marina are a good example of this. I also find I can now effectively open up(throttle increase) or tighten(throttle reduction) the car's turning radius mid-corner. I've been doing this a lot in the long sweeping right hander at Yas Marina; the one where the pit lane exit spits you out.

The other change that quickly became apparent is the car's behavior when breaking traction; it doesn't feel as sudden or unpredictable as it used to. It also feels like its a more common accurence. It seems to me that previously the car had nearly limitless grip when accelerating out of a corner until I reached the limit, then the tires would unexpectedly slip and all the built up lateral Gs would be released in a butt clenching snap oversteer event. After the update it feels like throttle induced oversteer starts earlier when I accelerate but the point of no return where the car spins out is more or less unchanged. This combined with the increased throttle input responsiveness gives me extra confidence I'll be able to cope with unwanted oversteer when it happens; I have more time to act(progressive drift) and the ability to act faster(throttle responsiveness).

This entire pathetic, childish rant just to complain that your dentist slop machine isn't faster than everything else by 2 seconds anymore. Go drive a road car and enjoy what GT is really about, tourist. I'm so glad Kaz doesn't cater to fake GT fans like you.

Why are you commenting under a daily race page then? Hopefully boomers at some point will be too old to play lmao

You're in your 40s calling someone in their 20s a boomer, bit hypocritical no? Not that I expect intelligence from you.

Lotsa people think they are actually race drivers and forget this is a game.
