This week we have two Online Time Trials in Gran Turismo 7, and both are demanding in their own way. We're heading to Autodromo Nazionale Monza in the Red Bull X2019 Competition, and to Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve in Gr.2. Both Time Trials are on Racing Soft tyres, which adds grip but doesn't make the combinations any easier.

Both events go live on 14 May 2026 and run for the usual two weeks, ending on 28 May 2026.

If you're a fan of the Gran Turismo World Series, you probably already know why we have two Time Trials this week. The official Milan World Series event is coming up, and the Monza X2019 Time Trial is the exact combination that's been set for the event. So this one isn't just a regular lap time challenge, it's a proper warm-up for anyone planning to follow the World Series races, and a chance for serious players to get reps in on the same combo the pros will be running.

Monza in the Red Bull X2019 Competition: What to Expect

The Red Bull X2019 Competition at Monza is one of those combinations that sounds quick on paper and is even quicker on track. The X2019 is essentially a hypothetical F1-style prototype with massive downforce and a top speed that absolutely demolishes Monza's long straights.

The WR sits at 1:22.781, and getting there is going to take real work. The X2019 is fast everywhere, but the real time gain is in the braking zones into the Variante del Rettifilo, Variante della Roggia, and the two Lesmos. Get those wrong and you'll lose two tenths a corner.

This is the headline Time Trial of the week, and it's the one most players are going to spend their time on, especially with the World Series tie-in.

Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve in Gr.2: What to Expect

The second Time Trial heads to Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve in Montreal, in Gr.2 cars on Racing Softs.

The WR stands at 1:23.884. Gilles-Villeneuve is a stop-and-go circuit, lots of long straights interrupted by tight chicanes, and Gr.2 cars need to be driven aggressively into the braking zones to get the front end to bite. Patience and focus are going to matter more than raw bravery here. The Wall of Champions at the final chicane lives up to its name in GT7 too. One mistake there and your lap is gone.

This combination is going to take a bit of patience to get done. Gr.2 cars are demanding and require a lot of focus, especially across the longer Time Trial format where consistency over multiple laps is what gets you the gold rather than one heroic effort.

Final Thoughts

Both Time Trials look properly demanding this week. The Monza X2019 combo is the one most people are going to focus on, partly because of the World Series tie-in and partly because the X2019 is genuinely one of the most fun cars in the game when you click with it. Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve in Gr.2 is the more technical, more patient challenge of the two.

Getting gold on both is going to take work, but if you're using Monza as a warm-up for the Milan World Series event, the time invested will pay off.

Let us know what you think about these combinations. It looks like it could be a very interesting fortnight.
