Hi, I'm SlipLTD. You can call me Slip.

I've been enamoured with racing games & sims since I can remember. I'm probably older than the vast majority of the Edge community so I'm talking arcade cabinets and old school consoles, before they became retro & fashionable. Eventualy graduating to online racing on PC with the first generation of sims to make it possible, titles from the likes of Papyrus from the late '90s & early '00s mainly. I left the hobby about 20 years ago as life just gets in the way sometimes. I purchased GT7 a few mounths back and I must say, once I had a taste of its Sport mode I was hooked. Polyphony Digital have crafted the sort of competitive online sim racing experience I used to think consoles could never achieve. Chapeau!

So, as the title says, I have questions. I expect I'll have even more, newer different questions as time goes by. Here is where I'll ask for answers as I progress on this journey. Here goes.

- Question 1: In a recent daily race C at Suzuka, where I started 10th on the grid, for some reason only the cars in positions 1-8 got underway when auto-drive kicked-in before the countdown to the start signal. Of the group of cars that initialy stayed behind, mine was the only one that eventualy got rolling before the start was given. The race replay shows the remaining cars got underway when the green flag fell, except the car in position 9. That one stayed in its place, ghosted. It was still sitting there as the pack completed lap 1. Is this a known issue? Does it happen often? Is there any work around?

In this same race I had the pleasure to take part in an exiting duel with an Italian driver that was a little faster that me. Very clean close quarters racing, passing and repassing each other a few times until his pace got the best of me and I spent the last laps barely clinging to his slipstream until I made a small driving error and ran wide at spoon corner on the final lap. If you happen to read these lines, well played sir. Battles like these are why I love online sim racing so much. Grazie mille!

I was looking forward to congratulating this adversary in the lobby chat after the race but while the game was still displaying the results board and the back markers had yet to complete the race, this driver left the game. I thought that was unfortunate to say the least, but stranger still was his name disappearing from both the results board displayed at the end of the race and the driver positions in the replay. With that it seems the game gifted me his well deserved 2nd place finish.

- Question 2: Is this a known issue? A driver has completed the race, the game has registered and displayed his finishing position, even factored in the demotion of the car that crossed the line ahead of him for not having used both tire compounds, but the game apparently nullifies his result because he didn't stay till the very end? Weather he left voluntarily or was disconected due to a network problem is irrelevant imho.

That's all for now. I'll use this thread to ask other questions in the future.

Until next tiem.
