I have the GT DD Extreme for 5 months now and when I first got it I tried to update the firmware from the Fanatec App and somehow it the update failed. So, I tried the old Fanatec driver version 474 and it updated with no problems. When I heard the latest firmware update that allows to increase the torque of the ClubSport DD and DD+ wheel bases, I thought if I update my wheel base on the Fanatec App, I was afraid my wheel base firmware update would fail again since my first attempt. My question to you is what is the safe way to update the wheel base firmware form driver version 474? Please share your experience on how did you update your wheel base from version 474.

Hello, is the fanatec gran turismo dd pro a good choice for a direct drive wheel? I want to upgrade from a thrustmaster T248, so wanted a significant upgrade. In terms of lower budget direct drive wheels it seemed good as it is also upgradable so I don't have to pay as much initially and can upgrade it over time. Is that the best option, or are there better options?

It will be a good choice! And as you said you can upgrade over the time as the whole Fanatec ecosystem is open to you. You will even get FullForce with a future update.

I just upgraded to the Gran Turismo DD Extreme and now that I have my settings finally sorted out, I'm very pleased. It's quite a powerful base but I didn't want to have to upgrade it again.

I'm not in love with the wheel itself, will probably replace it with something else at some point but it came with the base and for now it's doing the job.

Is there some sort of glitch with the fanatec wheels where the game completely crashes when the wheel isn't fully updated to latest firmware? I saw it on Tidgneys video I think last week, and I am wondering if that happens often or not. I am thinking of buying a fanatec wheel - would that make it not worth buying?

That was an issue with older firmware versions in the past, but with the latest firmware those problems are gone. As long as you keep your wheel updated, you shouldn't run into it.

Can anyone offer a suggestion on how to get more "road noise" with settings on the Fanatec GT DD Extreme (15nm)?  I just moved over from a Logitech g923 and I'm having a hard time thinking the Logitech was vastly superior in feedback but my Fanatec just feels numb.

I followed Luke's suggestions but I'm driving blind.
FFB: 65
FULL-FORCE: 0
NDP: 0
NFR: 1 (this is the only place I differ)
NIN:  0
INT:  0
FEI:  100
FOR:  90
SPR:  Off
DPR: Off

On my console I have the setting at 5 & 10 otherwise the wheel is atrociously heavy and I still get no sensations. WTF?

FULL FORCE: is what you're looking.

The other settings look good.

And these are my settings here: https://www.dg-edge.com/articles/guides-equipment/fanatec-wheel-settings-guide-2026-recommendation/633

Do you know if the Fanatec DD Pro has protection against over-revving when downshifting. It seems to me that some cars simply cannot shift down. With Gr1, Gr2 and Gr3 it is no problem, but with Gr4 I have to be more careful with downshifting. Is my reasoning about the engine over-revving protection correct? Thanks for the answer and good luck in the races!

No it's not the DD Pro, GT 7 changed something with an update months ago. Maybe you just noticed it in Gr. 4 but it is no longer possible to downshift super aggressiv over all categories.

Fanatec doesn't have the protection, but the game does, it's there to prevent overuse of engine braking.
