A Mixture on the leaderboard doesn’t mean balance. It just means a few drivers can pilot sub optimal cars around and set decent times carrying no fuel with no tyre wear. Looking at the leaderboard and determining that this Gr3 category is in anyway balanced is not correct.
I can tell you first hand having done a reasonable time in the Porsche. In the race with fuel (weight) acceleration is worse. Steering again a lot harder. And stability very difficult to come by inherently with the extremely poor suspension setup that’s better suited to a front engine car.
But what stands out the most in all of my races is the 0.500sec slower driver behind me in the supra that I leave in corners but immediately catches me on the straight. And ends up pushing me wide because so many people on this game think that because you can catch someone under slip and with a faster car, they’re faster. Wrong! But they think it hold a false sense of ability and cause an incident trying a dive bomb up the inside.
Let’s face it for drivers up the pointiest end jumping in a car like the Porsche or a few others is a death sentence. It’s all fine in the top end of top split were drivers are clean, leave space know how to handle the car in different situations and positions on track.
But the meta cars and the game imbalance is felt the most for driver in the top 200-500. When you have competition around you that are 0.100-0.400 off your qually time. In the meta. It is a glaring statement that their qually time is made up of the cars straight line speed and acceleration not their ability to navigate corners. If it was their time would be faster than a car that is slower in a straight line.
The gr3 and GR4 BOP are still unbalanced. Just because you can choose a selection of 5 cars that all carry the same basic characteristics out of a field of 52. Doesn’t make it balanced.
I’ll use deep forest as a prime example. People would say it balanced because you can use other cars. But at the end of the day with competent drivers. A car that might have better cornering ability get eaten alive on the straights and slip stream doesn’t help gain that time back in some cars. Certain cars pull away even when your in prime slip stream range. The viper is a good example of this. And currently the Supra is now causing this same issue.
