This time, we are heading to the Nürburgring 24h in the Porsche 911 Carrera RS (901) '73.
The new Gran Turismo 7 Online Time Trial goes live on 7 May 2026 and runs for the usual two weeks, ending on 21 May 2026. This round takes us to the Nürburgring 24h in the Porsche 911 Carrera RS (901) '73 on Sports medium tyres, and on paper this looks like one of the more challenging combinations we've had in a while.
If you're a fan of the Nordschleife, you already know the deal. The track does not forgive mistakes. Twenty-something kilometres of blind crests, off-camber corners, and walls that arrive a lot quicker than you'd like. Pairing that with a vintage 911 on Sports tyres is going to test patience as much as pace.
Nürburgring 24h in the Porsche 911 Carrera RS '73: What to Expect
The current world-best time on the leaderboard is already at 9:35.939, which is a properly committed lap around the 24h layout. To land in the top 3%, you'll need around 9:53.2, and honestly that's not as scary as it sounds. The Nordschleife has so many corners and so much elevation that small consistency gains add up fast across a single lap.
That said, this is going to be a grinder. The 911 Carrera RS is a classic rear-engined car, which means lift-off oversteer is a real thing and you cannot afford to be lazy with your inputs. On Sports tyres around a track this technical, the margin between a clean lap and a wall is small.
Patience is the word here. You're going to want to put in plenty of laps, accept that you'll bin a few attempts on the kerbs and walls, and slowly chip away at the deltas. Getting into the top 3% is very achievable. Getting close to the world record is a different conversation entirely.
Final Thoughts
The Nürburgring 24h in the Porsche 911 Carrera RS '73 looks like a proper grinder, technical and unforgiving in all the ways the Nordschleife usually is. The 9:35.939 already on the board is strong, and I'd expect the WR to drop into the low 9:30s by the end of week one as more drivers learn the combo.
Despite the challenge, getting into the top 3% should be very doable for anyone willing to put the laps in. There is genuinely a lot of room to spare for casual drivers chasing the percentile rather than the record.
Let us know what you think about this combination. It looks like it could be a very interesting one.
