Give it a try then, I'm 2 hundredths slower. Be daring, try something other than the meta

The Swift is just as fast here.

You seem to have mastered the Lexus, and esp. on this track you get good results. It's what I always say, get used to the car you like, and you will be able to be competitive on many tracks. I'm racing in B-rated lobbies, and I had, clean races provi…
I was also driving A/A+ lobbies for daily C, and I'm normally midfield in A/A+ sport mode lobbies.
from my past experience, the genesis is better through corners, slightly worse in top end, but monstrous in slipstream, but if you can get far enough ahead of them, they simply can't catch you, especially if you start on softs.
my first race I started on softs by accident, but I think it might actually be the best strategy, the mediums are too slippery for some reason, the genesis on mediums can't touch you if you start on softs, just build a gap, switch to the mediums and hang on as long as you can.
again, I seem to be disproportionately fast around dragon trail seaside, and I have driven exclusively the Lexus for over a year just because I like it, but I feel like if the genesis was truly as meta as people said it was I should at least be having a good fight, the last two races I was arguably just NOT racing people because I was just ahead of everyone.
and again, I'm normally a midfielder, it's not like I'm Max Verstappen quite yet.

Are you sure it's that much slower? Because I did another race against even faster drivers, and started in 3rd place, and I still completely demolished them on pace and strategy, finishing ahead by 5.9 seconds, which was a bigger gap than last race I…

I'm racing in B-rated lobbies, and I had, clean races provided, always good results with the Vette, being it in Gr.4 or Gr.3, at least before the physics update. Now after it, I do not feel experiencing something different. I'm not saying that I'm driving circles around the Genesis, but most races I had where good, and I finished in the DR gaining positions. This may have a lot of reasons, maybe I managed to stay out of trouble, and many times drivers made unforced errors from which I could benefit, or started battling with the cars around too early. When it comes to raw race pace, I can't catch the Genesis. I saw Beamers and the Suzuki being competitive, and Mustangs, and at least one YT'er said the Beamer is over a lap between two and four tenth slower than the Genesis, and at least in my lower lobbies, this is nothing. I guess, in A/A+ lobbies four tenth are an eternity... (but still in slipstream, so I reckon that you can be competitive with a non-meta, but ALL the big streamers or content creators don't show it, they ALL pick the meta...)

Yes I won one second split race with RCF as well, but it's still much slower

maybe I'm just disproportionately good around this track idk, I do also have like over 20,000 miles on the Lexus.

Personally love this race, tyre deg is spot on. Altough people compain about new physics especially on this track notorious for its kerbs, I love that it leaves no room for error. Try any kerb with 296 GT3 in AC Competizione, and you will start loving the kerbs in GT7.
This combo is so bad, specially with the new psychics

I haven't raced this event (and I don't plan to) but I'm not surprised its a shit show.
I ran last week's manufacturer's cup in Gr.3s at Mount Panorama and it was brutal in spite of benefiting from arguably the ideal event format: a qualifying session held right before the start affording for only one flying lap and a long-ish race who's part of a series; points championship style. Incentives well aligned to promote good racing.
- qualifying that tests drivers ability to perform under pressure, in conditions close to what they'll face at the start of the race
- race length that allows enough time for drivers to exercise some patience and impulse control
- race result representing only a fraction of the ultimate goal -ie: championship standings, further relativizing what consists a good performance
Regardless, it took me several attempts to make it through that race in a manner I found satisfactory. Not because I came across dirty or merely careless drivers, but because the track layout is so very challenging. The section going up and down the hill leaves no room for error and if a driver makes a mistake in close proximity to other cars, innocent parties can easily get collected in the incident.
Is it any surprise that setting the starting grid according to lap times realised who knows when, in who knows what car; then having drivers compete in a sprint race that has no relevance beyond itself; on a notoriously difficult track to simply drive, let alone overtake on, turns into the mother of all fuster clucks?
No. No, it is not.

Yeah, this car is POS. I would have prefered a Caterham race
The Caterham would have been a more interesting choice.
DWReplying to Donald Wilson·Okay, I know it is impossible, but I just drove an identical time on this course for Race A as I did last week at Suzuka. In two different cars on two different tracks, just one week apart, my time was 7:39.722 in both races. Yes, I'm a statisticia…

Hey Polyphony, no matter how many times you make them the META, Hyundais will never be cool. The Elantras are beyond lame.
Agreed. I don't play GT7 to safely drive affordable and dependable grocery getters.
But the Gran Turismo series was conceived from day one as a means to market automobiles to young people. The car manufacturers want to build brand loyalty as early as possible and video games are the perfect medium to do it. Whats unfortunate is Hyunday being lazy and instead of developing an actual real world racing program that would produce exciting cars worthy of featuring in the game, they try to buy their way into the conversation to shill their soccer mom wagons. VGT cars are kinda of the same thing. I don't like them much either because they're used to let manufacturers have a (fictional) car in categories they wouldn't otherwise. But I'll give them a pass as they're a nod to the wild prototypes manufacturers show off at the big car shows. In the end PD is only taking the money they're being offered. And without that revenue stream, who's to say Sony wouldn't try to extract that money from the playerbase somehow?
Myself, I just ignore the cars I find boring. Its not like I'm racing top split where every 1/1000sec counts. My challenge is making fewer & smaller mistakes than my competition. I can do that while driving whatever car gets my blood pumping. One of the perks of being in the lower ranks.
DWReplying to Donald Wilson·I liked the course and car selection, but everyone is dropping out of the race, so you are just doing laps. I went from P15 to P6 without passing anyone. I passed one car because they pitted, and I just had a better tempo.
I hear you. I had a race where I messed up my tire selection; for some reason the game didn’t register that I had put intermediates on. I might have made the choice too close to the end of warm-up. Who knows.
Anyway, I had to complete the first lap on slicks in one of the only real downpours the game threw at me all week. By the time I had exited the pits with inters I was almost 3 minutes behind the leader and nearly 2 minutes behind 14th position. Without ever seeing another car after the start, I scored a 5th place finish nonetheless.
I currently have 2 active accounts: one for Europe and one for the Americas. This problem is much worse in the latter. And its not all about last week’s race length. I find this sort of thing happens regularly in the usual 22-23 minute daily Cs.
The Swift is just as fast here.
Just went P16 (unqualified) to P6 in the Hyundai. (B-lobby) Rented. I've never driven this car before.
I can run quali laps in the mid 1:38s in the WRX, Beetle, and the 296, but nothing seems to out accelerate the Genesis. I hate how lopsided BOP is right now. So yeah nah this race would be amazing - - - without the Hyundai.

Great daily, I really like it, but genesis makes the race bad... way too fast, you can't even be competitive with other cars
In my first race in a lobby that was all A rated drivers except for one driver, I got pole position and decimated everyone else and ran away with the win.
the entire grid was genesis' and one Lexus RC F, I was also driving another Lexus, I will never drive another car willingly.
the genesis is quick in slip, but you can beat them.
